Lutaaya Shafiq, is a Ugandan Computer Scientist and Digital Transformation
Consultant, he currently serves as the President and Google AdWords Strategist of Next Generation Technology, NGX Uganda. Shafiq serves as the Director of www.ronzag.com and Kira Young Investors Co. Ltd. He works with National Water and Sewerage Corporation, a Uganda government institution in the water utility sector as an Applications Developer.
Shafiq is involved in National Digital Transformation Programmes and Initiatives that are spearheaded by the Uganda National Information Technology Authority and the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology & National Guidance. Shafiq is the Technical Lead on the Carnegie Corporation of New York Supported Research Project with a title ‘A Model for Quality Assessment of E- services in Developing Economies’ (www.qualityassessmentofeservices.com ) whose major aim is to improve the quality of e-services in Uganda and help lower their high failure rates,
as well as in other developing economies.
In January 2022, working consultants from Makerere University, MoICT, MoLUHD MoLG, Shafiq, and the team embarked on a project aimed at assessing the readiness of the newly formed cities in Uganda for their readiness to be international smart cities with improved livability, workability, and sustainability (Cities of-
Kampala, Lira, Mbarara, Arua, Fort Portal, Gulu, Jinja, Mbale, Masaka, Hoima, Soroti) (www.smartcityreadinessassessment.com). The project whose title is ‘A Formative Smart City Assessment Readiness Tool: Towards Smart Cities in Uganda’ is supported by the Government of Uganda through the Research Innovation Fund.
Working with professional engineers from Bitmuk Technologies Ltd, Shafiq developed the ForumDare.com tool, a comprehensive web application for sharing buzzing news, polls, videos, lists, quizzes and more.
