WordCamp Jinja 2025 (scheduled for Saturday 24th– Sunday 25th May 2025) is an annual conference we have been holding since 2022 as the WordPress Jinja Meetup Community and is slated to be one of the largest annual community tech events in Eastern Uganda. It brings together WordPress developers, website designers, online publishers, students, and educators from Uganda, East Africa, and beyond to exchange knowledge and experiences and connect with fellow WordPress enthusiasts. This event promises to be a fantastic networking opportunity, attracting attendees not only from across Uganda but also from around the globe. The host venue will be Jinja Senior Secondary School, located in Jinja City.
Our main theme for this year is: ‘Create, Impact, and Explore with WordPress!’ Join us as we explore how WordPress can drive creativity, impact communities, and empower individuals at #WordCampJinja this year. We expect to attract around 200 attendees, including students, teachers, developers, designers, bloggers, entrepreneurs, and WordPress enthusiasts from Jinja and surrounding areas.
We will also have a parallel Contributor Day on 25th May 2025 at Jinja Senior Secondary School, where we will engage with the local WordPress community and contribute to the WordPress project. We also welcome the local tech and creative communities – including Google Developer Groups and Women Tech Makers – to get involved with the WordPress Open Source Project and join the fun!
Attendees can expect a diverse range of activities catering to all levels of expertise, including beginner’s workshops, inspirational talks, showcases, discussions on best practices, and insights into the latest trends in WordPress development and design. Additionally, after the event, we will have an optional exciting after-party near the Source of the Nile in Jinja, offering a unique experience for participants to unwind and connect in a picturesque setting.
To secure your spot at this amazing event, you need to book your tickets as soon as possible. We have two types of tickets available:
- Actual Cost tickets / (micro sponsor): WordCamps like to keep their prices low / discounted to provide access to as many people as possible. Thanks to our generous sponsors, we are able to do that. Otherwise, the actual cost of attendance for WordCamp Jinja 2025 is UGX 180,000 (~$50). If you would like to be a MicroSponsor to cover the full cost of your ticket (including the facility/venue costs, tshirt, other swag, all meals, workshop materials, etc), we will be happy to list you as such on our website and your attendee badge. If you would like to become a MicroSponsor, please book a MicroSponsor ticket and our team will be in touch for further details.
- Discounted / general tickets: These are limited in number and cost only UGX 40,000 (~$10). They give you access to all the facilities, sessions, meals and activities on all days of the event. You also get a tshirt and some WordCamp goodies (swag). Book up before they sell out!
- Limited student tickets for groups of high school students are also available at UGX 20,000 (~$5).
