Every year, WordCamp Jinja brings together members of the WordPress community to learn, connect and use their skills to support the wider community.
As part of WordCamp Jinja 2026, we are inviting local businesses, schools, startups, nonprofit organisations and community projects that need a simple website to apply for support through our Website Hackathon.
During the hackathon sessions, WordPress volunteers and experienced community members will work with selected participants to help them begin building or improving their websites. The programme is designed to give organisations a practical starting point for establishing an online presence, sharing their work and reaching more people.
Who can apply?
Applications are open to:
- Small and growing businesses
- Startups and entrepreneurs
- Schools and educational projects
- Nonprofit and community organisations
- Local initiatives that need a simple website
- Organisations with an existing website that requires basic improvements
You do not need to be a web designer or have previous WordPress experience. Our volunteers will guide selected participants through the process.
What support will be provided?
Depending on the needs of each selected project, participants may receive support with:
- Setting up a basic WordPress website
- Organising website pages and content
- Choosing a suitable website structure
- Adding information about services, programmes or products
- Creating contact and enquiry pages
- Learning how to update and manage the website
The web design support provided during the hackathon is free. Participants will only be responsible for their own WordCamp attendance ticket, domain name and web-hosting costs.
To help our volunteers prepare, applicants should submit accurate information about their organisation, the purpose of the website and the content they would like included.

Venue: Civil Service College Uganda, Jinja
WordCamp Jinja will bring together creators, students, developers, designers, bloggers, entrepreneurs and community leaders for two days of learning, collaboration and practical digital skills.
